Security threats of maritime oil transport in the Baltic Sea -seminar and workshop on May 15-16 in Kotka
The international seminar "Security threats of Maritime Oil Transport in the Baltic Sea" on May 15,
is hosted by Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences and Kotka Maritime Research Centre.
The seminar is related to project "Minimizing Risks of Maritime Oil Transport by Holistic Safety Strategies (MIMIC)".
The aim of the seminar is to deliver information of ongoing security research and current outcomes.
Another purpose is to bring together important actors such as, authorities, companies and other experts
in order to develop and iterate gained information to the following phases of project.
The workhop on May 16, includes topics of identification of threats, scenarios for traffic flows and ship grounding model review.
The deadline for registeration is the 30th April, 2012. Seminar is free of charge.

Kotka Maritime Research Centre is a research centre in Kotka formed by combining
the expertise of leading Finnish universities and research institutes in the fields
of maritime transport and logistics, maritime safety and the marine environment.
KMRC seeks innovative approaches through interdisciplinary research and broad
international co-operation. The research centre forms a 45 person unit, which is
built around professorships from four universities: Aalto University,
Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences, University of Helsinki and University of
Turku, Centre for Maritime Studies.
