Kotka Maritime Research Centre (KMRC)
Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE) jointly with the WINOIL R&D Consortium organizes an international seminar
in Maritime Centre Vellamo (Tornatorintie 99), Kotka, March 26 at 13:00 - 17:00 about winter navigation risks and oil combating contingency planning.
A full-scale oil-in-ice demonstration will also be held in Kotka on March 27 starting at 9:00 in Kantasatama area, close to the meeting venue.
Exercise fleet will demonstrate oil recovery facilities in ice conditions. Open Doors will be organized to the public between 13:00 - 15:00.

Kotka Maritime Research Centre is a research centre in Kotka formed by combining
the expertise of leading Finnish universities and research institutes in the fields
of maritime transport and logistics, maritime safety and the marine environment.
KMRC seeks innovative approaches through interdisciplinary research and broad
international co-operation. The research centre forms a 45 person unit, which is
built around professorships from four universities: Aalto University,
Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences, University of Helsinki and University of
Turku, Centre for Maritime Studies.
