2nd International Maritime Incident and Near Miss Reporting Conference (IMISS2013), Kotka, Finland

The IMISS2013 conference and Special Sessions will be hosted by the Kotka Maritime Research Centre from 11th to 12th June 2013 in Kotka, Finland. IMISS2013 conference is a part of the project Competitive Advantage by Safety - CAFE, focusing on operational maritime safety in broad scale of topics.
The 2nd International Maritime Incident and Near Miss Reporting Conference 2013 will bring together scientists working on maritime safety and operational maritime safety, corporate representatives, authorities and experts from maritime sector. Industry's own activity in safety matters, i.e. self?regulation, has potential to be the most effective way to improve maritime safety. Many human factor related policies, proactive maritime safety, E-navigation or employment and work safety of seafarers are issues that can be seen to have a major development potential in the future. IMISS2013 will present oral presentations relevant to broad scale operational maritime safety issues and arranges three Special Sessions on:
* Work safety in shipping (workshop)
* Corporate Social Responsibility in shipping (academic presentations)
* Safety management in maritime sector (workshop)

Merikotka on Kotkassa toimiva meriliikenteen, meriturvallisuuden ja meriympäristön tutkimuskeskus, joka yhdistää johtavien suomalaisten korkeakoulujen ja tutkimuslaitosten osaamista. Merikotkan vahvuutena on poikkitieteellinen lähestymistapa merenkulun tutkimukseen.
Tutkimuskeskuksen perustana ovat kolmen professorin ja tutkimusjohtajan johtamat tutkimusryhmät, jotka kuuluvat hallinnollisesti Helsingin yliopistoon, Aalto-yliopistoon, Turun yliopiston Merenkulkualan koulutus- ja tutkimuskeskukseen ja Kymenlaakson ammattikorkeakouluun.
